Maintenance Of Implants
The daily care of dental implants is very similar to the care of natural teeth.
For Single implants
- Clean at least twice a day with a soft-bristle toothbrush
- Use a low-abrasive toothpaste
- Brush under and around the implant crown
- Use a nylon coated interdental brush to clean hard to reach places
- Floss daily
- Use a recommended oral irrigator (water pik)
Implant Supported Dentures
- Remove the denture
- Cleaning at least twice a day. Using a soft-bristle toothbrush to clean around the abutment of the implant
- Cleaning of dentures is the same as conventional dentures.
For Good Denture care
- Remove and rinse dentures after eating.
- Handle your dentures carefully.
- Clean your mouth after removing your dentures.
- Brush your dentures at least daily.
- Soak dentures overnight.
- Rinse dentures thoroughly before putting them back in your mouth, especially if using a denture-soaking solution.
Implant supported Dentures with a Bar
- Remove Denture
- Brush the bar twice daily
- Clean under the bar using interdental brush, water pik or floss. Daily
Dental implants should be checked regularly, frequency determined by your doctor or dental hygienist.The dental hygienist has an important role to play in keeping dental implants infection-free.
